As I understand it, third party liability for any damage / injury caused by a pet is usually covered by your household insurance under the heading 'responsabilite civile' so it's a good idea to check with your insurers. Of course that doesn't cover vet bills for your dog, for which you'd need a separate policy - there are now several providers with different charges and levels of cover so it's worth shopping around.
Good luck with your dog! |

| Can you give a bit more information on the insurance available. We have just rehomed a 3 year old dog and would like to cover with insurance. We lost our lovely collie last year and had huge vet bills which we paid willingly for 2 years but would like to try and avoid this happening again if any way possible. |

Thanks for the replies to my original post. We now find that the House Insurance covers the Dog. |

my house insurance covers upto 4 dogs & 4 horses for public liability free even if they are not with a family member or even if the dog or horse is staying with me and is not mine!
if it is a guide dog do the guide dog society not pay vet bills during its working life? i used to work for a vet and any guide dog bills used to be sent direct to them not the disabled person, has this changed now?
